“NO…!” Ruby outright refused, as the additional two blades were tossed toward her. Nearing the staircase, she had turned toward him again just for safe measure… and just in time to catch the two knives in her sights. Persevering against the needle’s hallucinogenic effect for just a little longer, Ruby managed to find the focus within her to sidestep the two blades… because one needle was enough. The staircase now right beneath her, Ruby could waste no time going down. With each step of her hoof, the shaky wooden stairs cried an unpleasant screech, clearly not appreciating it at all as she rushed her way down its frailty. Traveling down the rabbit hole she was indeed… Every step she passed, she could feel her connection with reality slowly slipping away. Suddenly, the colors within her vision began to shift. Shadows and objects began to bend and shape into horrendous forms. Against the fear of what surrounded her, Ruby forced her body to a halt. It was now or never. From her bag she withdrew yet another bomb… though it packed more of a punch than her typical bombs. Removing its top, the fuse lit from the exposure to the air. The hallucinations finally getting to her, she lacked the strength or the will to give it any sort of toss. Still, leaving at the staircase was more than enough. Ruby did exactly that and made a run for it down the stairs. And in but seconds, the bomb burst—creating a divide of flame between Ruby and her stalker. With an unrelenting lust to spread and conquer all it could, the fire wandered all through the stairs and quickly reached the upper stories of the home where Night Trance was. Meanwhile, the flames chased Ruby down the stairs as fiery bits of the ceiling above rained like hell fire. There was not much time left inside the building for either of them. |

One minute left, he needed to get her now. But the drugs were taking hold even from their distance he can see the slightly sluggish movements she had. Even though his knives missed she was just about on her last legs. Getting towards the top of the stairs he felt a haughty grin on his face. "This game is over Ruby." Before he could take down after her a sudden flash filled his vision. Flames had consumed the stairway and the upper levels. The old building was crumbling around him and he back pedaled swiftly. What was she thinking? That mare must have been mad, the drugs must have been to much. "No way she could survive this, probably died on the initial flash. Got to get out of here before I join her." The black pegasus made his way back towards the window he came from on swift legs. The heat was already searing the back of his neck. Flameing pieces of wood and building crumbling as the structure was almost completely lit. With a curse he tossed him self out the window into an sloppy tumble usuing his wings to glide right into the trash cans in the alley. Battered, burned and bruised at the least he was still alive. "The boss is not going to be happy about this. Crazy mare, you'd rather die than pay." |

A fragment of the burning ceiling crashed to her left… as another crashed to her right. Her vision twisting and distorting as she helplessly made her way underneath such an unrelenting fire, Ruby felt as if she could have been nearing her death. She slowed, her life flashed before her eyes as she clumsily made her way through the trippy flames. The clocks wound backwards and backwards… until a familiar scene reentered her eye. Two young, trouble making misfits in a house: she and a terra mare her age with peculiar tentacles… ransacking the place just to prove which one of them the better thief was. The house started off as the place of their competition… but very soon, it became their escape. In the hallways… they’d compete as thieves. In the bedroom… they’d join one another's skin. And in the escape tunnel underneath… they’d share each others darkest secrets. Despite her visual impairments, the memories of her friend seemed to guide her to exactly where she needed to go. Lifting up an iron panel on the floor, Ruby revealed the secret entryway into the home’s escape tunnel. Diving in, she closed the panel in after herself, descending into the gravel tunnel in which she would be safe. It was certainly lonely… seated by herself in that dark, damp tunnel. But it was preferable to being dead. It was also preferable to being chased by the guild any longer… as Night Trance would have likely believed her dead if he had managed to escape. Ruby let out a deep sigh of relief… as she had finally managed to slip out of trouble’s reach. Edited by Ruby Nights, Sun Feb 9, 2014 2:49 am.

Finally it was all over, the building was nothing more that smoldering ruins. Night Trance had taken the time to bandage himself up and survey the damage from the shadows. Curious ponies were already flocking to the scene of the great blaze but he knew there was nothing of value in that place. "With the drugs in her system there was no escape for her. Especially since she went down stairs. Crushed to death by burning debris, what a stupid way to die for a stupid mare." Scoffing one last time Night Trance turned his back to the scene and slipped into the shadows. No trace of his presence was left, in one hour he would be back at the Guild and make his report. The mare know as Ruby Nights was dead. Nothing more the ash at this point. What a waste of a night this turned out to be. |

The night had passed and the moon had entered its next phase. Ruby had spent a cold, starving night resting underneath the burning building… but she appreciated at least the fact that she was safe. Finally after more than a night’s passing, Ruby opened the panel back up to the surface only to reveal that the entirety of the house’s tall stories had burned down. She had a clear view of the moonlit sky above her now… with the sight of a busy street before her full all sorts of troubles to get tangled into. She decided not to get into anymore trouble… not with thieves guilds and certainly not with any power-hungry mobsters. In fact, with her debt to The Shrouded Blade erased, she’d hope to never return to Manehattan again. As she crept from out of the rubble, there was only one place in the world she could think of that wanted to go: to the Everfree Forest… back to her mother. Perhaps together, they’d escape from Equestria for good. Ruby would forever escape her debt and her mother would at last be out of the Queen’s clutches. And then, after that… well there was an entire world for them to explore. Her hungry, suffering body trembled with joy at the prospects of what was possible. Fading off into the shadows of the nearest alley, she couldn’t have been happier to leave. Edited by Ruby Nights, Wed Jan 1, 2014 1:19 am.
