Viola gave Skylark a flat look. "There may be harm in anything. It is the nature of my prophecy to reveal ill times, more than anything enjoyable." Regardless, she brought the orb towards her, resting her forehooves upon it and staring at something distant. The frission rose again, that same feeling of goose-bumps that had come about when she had used her magic. It took a moment, but eventually her eyes lost focus, almost glassy, and the orb became sharper in definition, shrinking slightly. Her lips moved in silent words, and her hooves twitched a little over the surface of the orb. A few more seconds passed, and suddenly she snapped back into reality, taking a gasping breath and moving one hoof up to clutch at her skull as one might during an extreme migraine, grimacing in discomfort. |

Lamplight had gone to the kitchen, steeping tea leaves into a boiling kettle and preparing a plate. She wasn't one for hospitality - she found it exhausting - but given the circumstance, she'd humor Skylark. Whatever he'd really done was enough to make them sacrifice the week's groceries over, and it was something magical in nature, which intrigued her. She returned to see the tail-end of the scene, immediately handing the tray of tea to Skylark and moving to Viola's side. "What did you make her do?" Lamplight glared toward Skylark. "She's too weak right now to be using her magic." |

"Whoa! Hey! Are you alright?" He had moved to Viola to check on her when Lamplight returned and shoved the tray at him. Skylark just looked guiltily away and dealt with setting the tray down and fixing tea while Lamplight worked. He shouldn't have asked Viola to exert herself - Lamplight was right. "Sorry, Light," he offered casually. "Sorry Viola, too. I just thought it would be interesting. I shouldn't let curiosity get in the way of medical needs." |

Viola took a gasping breath, as if she'd nearly drowned, waving Lamplight away as she returned to all four hooves, trying to steady herself. She blinked repeatedly, wincing in the light, a redness starting to seep into her left eye. "It is hard...to come back, s...sometimes. But..." another deep breath. "I saw..." She glanced up at Skylark, concern etched upon her features. "We were followed. The Guard is coming." |

Lamplight wasted no time on the warning. She stared at Skylark long enough to be sure he knew what she was about to do, then she left, in a flash of blackened streaming light, she winked away, leaving a wisp of smoke behind her that trailed and dispersed in seconds. At the end of her teleportation, she was on the balcony on the fourth floor of this building. She pulled her dark cloak over herself, musing in how easily she could conceal herself as long as the world was dark, and watched. Sure enough, a black figure in the distance - growing larger - confirmed the truth. With a back hoof, she hit a button on the wall. The button released a weight, pulled a rope, and triggered the sound of tiny bells throughout the entire house, alerting anyone to the brittle sound that interrupted the peace of the home. Having done that, Lamplight huddled down on the balcony, barely giving herself view of the approaching figure. She closed her eyes, and started to channel a spell, muttering an incantation under her breath. |

The bells rang in the den where Viola and Skylark sat. He arched a brow then stretched his hooves, a grin on his face. "Looks like your hunch was right. Think he's got some friends?" He cleared his throat as he took a seat on a chair in the room, acting casual. "It's just that, when threatened, Lamplight's taken on rooms-full of Canterlot guards before. He's gonna need some backup, and even then, I think Light has this covered for us." |

Viola furrowed her brow, trying to recall. "Four...no, five earth ponies...and two pentacorns. They were planning but I could not hear." She glanced back at the door, taking a few steps away from it. "They fear my abilities...needlessly, but I fear the pentacorns might be trained to block spells. Are you sure she will be able to overcome them all?" |

She sent out her spell, and to those hiding near the home; they would find their bodies aglow, as if their fur was replaced by glittering light in perfect color contrast to their coats. Illuminated in the darkness, Lamplight quickly, methodically scanned them. Seven total. Gimmicks and Stone were out on the town - Airheart visiting her sister. Skylark would stay to guard the pony he'd brought with him. One versus seven. How unfair for them. Lamplight jumped from the balcony, magic holding to her hooves like bubbles of light that slowed her descent at the very end to let her hit the grass with nary a sound. Coming from her left were two of the earth ponies, and she quickly hit them both with a negative beam of light. As one groaned, the other got up and charged again. She led him around the back of the house at a gallop. Coming upon two more with a pentacorn, she sent her magic at all three. The two earths dodged; the pentacorn fizzled the magic at before contact. As the stallion chasing her came upon her, she helped herself up into the air with her magic, letting him charge and slam into one of the other earth ponies. The third, she fired upon again until she found her target. Four down. As it contacted, the pentacorn's own attack found her. Lamplight spun and aimed her own beam, meeting his in a duel she was losing due to energy. Her spell fizzled, and she was sent slamming into the wall. Righting herself in time for another beam duel, she heard two more coming upon them - a pentacorn and an earth. Seems they had planned to come from all directions. As her spell started to lose the duel, and the other pentacorn charged her, Lamplight shifted her focus to a different spell. As he reached her, she winked away, taking him with her. They winked above the house at cloud level. The pentacorn, now focused on trying to stop his own falling, was oblivious as Lamplight used her own magic to spin herself and buck him hard, knocking him out. As they neared the floor, she caught them both up and slowed again, dropping him in a heap before her just in front of the house's main entrance. The remaining two came forward. Another beam at the pentacorn revealed that he was fizzling her spells out. The earth walked slowly upon Lamplight. "Light show's over, runt." She tossed her head and looked at her companion pentacorn. The pentacorn replied: "A unicorn versus a pentacorn of anti-magic. Give up. We're here to make those within pay for crimes." Lamplight looked to the door, expressionless. The pentacorn continued: "There's nothing you can do. Stop now and we'll leave you out of this. Consider it a trade." An idea dawned on Lamplight. She backed up until she was nearer the body she had sent to the sky. As the two enemies approached, she winked again, this time sending the fallen comrade just above the pentacorn. As it fell upon the magic-user, Lamplight spun, gripped the other earth pony into her magic, and flung her at the pentacorn as well. All three hit the wall near the entrance with a loud THUMP. Finally, from where Viola and Skylark were seated, they could notice the front door burst open with force - a half-dazed earth pony stallion being flung through it, rolling on the rug, and slamming to a halt against the doorframe to the den. Lamplight followed casually after it, looking disinterested. |

Skylark waited a moment, having opened his mouth only to hear the thud of something losing the battle outside. He relaxed visibly, nodding to Viola just as the body came flying into the house and landing before them. "Yea-" he deadpanned "I think she's going to be just fine. Any injuries, Lamplight?" |

Viola seemed shaken, jumping back as the body burst through the door. With the orb set aside she slowly approached, pressing her hoof to his neck. His heart fluttered, but blood flowed from his nose, suggesting a wound far deeper than skin. "I never wished this to happen..." she said softly, staring at the ground. |
