Strella (pl. Strellan)

They say a wish upon a star was once so pure, so strong, that the star itself was brought to tears. And when that stardrop fell from heavens to earth, it fell like rain on the wisher's forehead, cool and refreshing, smelling like a coming storm over the ocean. From that single kiss from heaven branched rivers of leylines throughout the land, all threaded to like needle to sew the world together, rebirthed with the final wishes of dying stars.

APPEARANCE
Sound/ Cry: Common; Are additionally taught Runic in magic school, a non-verbal language for writing and reading magic.
Defining Features: Pointed ears; A lion's tail of slender fur leading up to a tuft of hair that resembles their head of hair. Strellan are born with a runic sigil on their forehead in their magic color, The designs are variant and resemble constellations in their simplicity, and a faint twinkle at the corners of each connected line in the design.

CAPABILITIES
Skills: Imagine a spider's web carefully lain over a sphere's surface. Strella attune their magic to the heavens beyond anything but our primitive perception. Their magic is drawn from constellations, leylines only they can read from the pull between distant stars - the shadows of which fall on Lyria and the world's surface in dark twin lines of the constellations. These are stars immovable among the sky, even by the moon goddess, though she paints the heavens around them, and even creates constellations of her own; even kamera do not understand why only the original constellations produce leyline shadows. Where these lines intersect form conduit points of stronger magic, and the patterns created in the night sky form their own runes that strellan have learned to read and reorganize to create spells drawn up from the magic cast down to the surface. While strellan have developed a wide and innovative variety of spells and the magic skill of each strella varies, all strellan are capable of the two most basic spells: Regardless of talent, they have learned how to replicate the draw and attraction of the stars that created this magic, and can thus levitate objects at will with their magic power determining how big an attractive force they can create. Secondly, they have learned to thread the magic of the leylines through their sigil like a thread to a needle, and throw raw magic outward like a physical beam. Stronger strellan have learned to teleport along the leylines, disappearing at one intersection and reappearing at the next. Only strellan can see and sense leylines instinctively, but they only see a small piece of the magic. It is said the color of their eyes indicates what color spectrum of magic they are attuned to naturally, all other leys being invisible even to them. No one strella can master magic unless the rainbow itself is at their command.

Weaknesses: While there is no mana limit in this world, strellan do require a great amount of concentration, energy, and premeditation (and learning) to cast/memorize spells. Unless it was a spell they already mastered, a strella cannot cast it on command, and even if they can, it requires a great amount of stamina to do so. In this regard, strellan tend to be fragile and immobile, forced to find and use the web of stringed lines laid out over the world to structure their spells. Strellan sacrifice mobility and awareness for well-aimed bursts of intense effects and high output.

DUSTED
Goetian (pl. Goetians)

Defining Features: Upon being dusted, strellan tails become thin, shiny, and malleable like latex, with a spaded tip. They lose the sigil on their forehead, gaining instead two horns from their temples. The appearance of these horns is variant but horns are always single pointed (no antlers) and never longer than one's forearm. It is culturally common for goetian to carve their old sigil mark into the horns.

Skills: Strellan cast spells drawn from the leylines then shaped into elements for casting. Goetians become their own moving dot among the constellation's lines, allowing them to be their own intersection between magic sources. Their magic is always treated as though they are at a conduit. If a strella is a needle for the thread, a goetian is a loom, faster, larger magic, but far more limited in what can be created. Additionally, strellan cast their magic outward from their sigil, but goetians cast it inward, their curled horns drawing the magic around their bodies like an aura. Goetians tend to be the masters of a single element or theme of magic, with their bodies becoming the literal conduit and vessel for it. Their hair and tail take on the appearance of their theme of magic, either serving as a shield or whip or extra aura of protection/offense when casting, and they do not need to remain still while casting spells like strellan do because the leyline moves with them.

Weaknesses: Goetians sacrifice access to learning and using spells outside of their mastered element in favor of stronger and more capable mastery of their own spells. Goetians cannot wink. They retain all the fragility of strellan and use their energy far faster than strellan. While they can store extra magic in their hair, they retain a physical limit to how much they can exert themselves.
