There was something wrong in the city of Manehattan. For the first time in awhile there was something unsettling going on. Shaker Down has rarely had problems with his business and actions but now. Ponies and Gryphons had been sticking their nose in his business and around his turf. That in turn were making other ponies stupidly brave and put up some resistance to his advancement through the city. The one eyed Mobster sighed as he walked along one of his warehouses. All the goods were intact and ready to be shipped out, some whimpers escaped one of the boxes making him strike it hard with his hoof.

"Shut it or I'll shut you up personally. This is why I hate shipping live goods, whatever getting a decent amount of bits from this. The rest of my boys should be along to help move this out of the city."

His mind drifted back to a few weeks ago with his last run in with the bounty hunter and her little friend. His boys hadn't found no bodies and that made him angry. He knew that bird was hardy enough to live through her injuries and her little pal must have helped her out.

"I need some answers."

Oh, recon. How he hated recon. Skylark always did this, too - put the team into sections and asked them to look for trouble going on in their city. It was hard to think of anything more boring than walking along rooftops and roads waiting for bad things to happen to report them. Still, Sky claimed it was important to their goals, so he put up with the most boring of recon work.

Gimmicks hopped down from the roof he had landed on, coming into an open road of the city, completely empty at this hour save for a few ponies on their way home. He looked up at the grey clouded sky and sighed. Of course, it would start raining during recon. Just because it wasn't bad enough without also catching a cold, right? He shook out his feathers and walked the street casually, only giving the inconspicuous buildings a tired glance as he passed them.

The patter of rain brought Shaker Down back from his thoughts, it was time to get back to the task at hand. There was one more crate to account for before he shipped them out and got his cut. The rain would be a pain in the ass to deal with but business waits for no pony. He turned to walk towards the back of the old warehouse opening up the back gate.

"Alright, get the last crate in here so that we can make sure everything is straight. They got air holes so the ponies in them better still be alive or it's your ass."

That got his men to rush into action to be sure that they didn't mess this up for their boss. Shaker shook at them, most of them were useless but at least few of them had some worth. The rain began to pick up as he walked towards the alley to take a quick smoke.

The mobsters began to drag a large shipping box filled with whimpering and crying ponies across the streets into the warehouse. The pounding on the box filled the streets but with them being empty no pony would stick their nose into their business.

As always for villains: poor choice of words. No pony heard the noise and investigated, but Gimmicks did, sure this wasn't some narrative setup to start Chapter 2. He followed the sound, peering around a corner to see the box, gryphon ears picking up the cries and pleading inside. He flew up onto a roof and watched for a moment, eyes catching sight of a familiar stallion he hadn't quite gotten to take down before.

He crept along the roof, following Shaker until he thought the rain and business would distract his helpers from noticing their boss had been attacked, and then Gimmicks did so. He jumped from the roof after a shake of his rump and a little flick of his lion tail. His wings spread and he landed just behind Shaker, bouncing lightly on the pads of his paws into another leap directly at the mobster.

"Hyaa!"

He was seriously getting annoyed from the sound of those ponies crying and pleading. Perhaps he should kill a few of them just to make an example. Sure the guy receiving them would be pissy but he would get over it. His thoughts were cut short when a cry came from behind him. He spun around just in time to see a familiar sight of small feathery fury coming at his face again. His hammer was in the warehouse but his magic was just fine.

"Little shit!"

He could almost feel the little bastards claws on his face as his magic gathered at the tip of his horn. He aimed to fire a short blast of magic to try and knock his attacker back so that he could get some space.

"--aah-GAH!" He'd readied to take Shaker down, pun intended (comes with the territory), when the blast him across his chest cavity and sent him spinning back, tumbling into the road unable to right himself immediately. He'd landed firmly on his back then spun over, clutching a claw to the sore spot as he took an aggressive stance again, charging Shaker.

"This is for Razma, you butt!!!"

He clenched his beak tightly and pounced, using his wings to fly over Shaker and spin into a sweeping claw.

Ok space was gained and the little bird was still trying to come for him. A part of Shaker wanted to respect his tenacity for still coming at him even after taking that attack. But a larger part of him was amazed at his stupidity of charging forward...again. He saw him take flight gathering energy once more, this time for a proper spell.

"I think you need to sit down junior."

He felt the claws dig into his back but kept his stance, stomping his forehoof his spell channeled into the ground. A grapefruit sized chunk of concrete shot from his left aiming once more at his young attackers chest in an attempt to ground him.

He didn't have time to do more than widen his eyes at the statement and then-- BOOM. A sound blast and attack under such force that it knocked him yards back. He tumbled, scuffing on the concrete until he finally skidded to a halt, the shot to the chest knocking the wind and fight from him. Gimmicks held his chest again, coughing and sputtering as he staggered halfway to his feet only to collapse again as another coughing fit hit him.

He managed to sit up as he remembered how to inhale and glared at Shaker as he made a slow effort of standing again, this time defensively. Okay, this was a bad idea. Bad plan. Retreat and get help. He inched backward, away from Shaker this time.

Once more Shaker found himself bleeding from the little gryphon. Last time he and his friend got away from him. But the look in his eyes told him he didn't want to play anymore. Shaker Down glared at the young intruder. His horn glowed brightly as he shaped another spell from his surroundings. A hammer made out of earth would have to do for now. Crude but effective.

"Not such a tough shit now are you? You want to get involved in adult business? Then I'm gonna treat ya like an adult."

His horn flared making the crude weapon lash out towards the left wing of the young gryphon. He wanted to make sure that his friend wasn't going to go anywhere anytime soon.

"Yeah, well, I----" The sentence was interrupted by the resonating sound of bone snapping as easily as dead twigs under one's boot. He howled loudly, screaming in agony as his eyes whited out, pupils rolling back. He'd been too dazed to move, but now he collapsed again - crumpled, really - into a collective heap as his legs buckled from the force. He pulled all his limbs defensively close to his torso as he tried to inch away from Shaker, save for the broken wing. It hung limply spread out, dragged and flared out, weighed down by rain and clinging to the concrete as Gimmicks found he couldn't withstand the suffering required to tuck it back in. Ruffled feathers twitched lightly as his whole shoulder trembled.

He pulled away from Shaker until his back was against a wall, then stared up at him as he tried not to go into shock. "..hn.. you're... ... tougher than you look..."
