"Ah, good. Then I'm going to do something I normally don't do and provide you with some knowledge. A hint, if you will, for staying alive. I believe that was Nightingale's agreement when I took her. She told me to give you one second chance if you ever started on the wrong path, and I'm not one to dishonor a last request." He paused a moment, looking somber. "I am sorry about her, for what it is worth, as well. If it helps, she had a hero's end helping the injured escape a great fire. Oh, but where are my manners?"

He chuckled again, standing to full height and bowing his head a moment. "You'll have to forgive my attire. I don't take my crown for Last Rites. I'm Horizon, King of Hades. And you have something very important to me in your guard." He smiled warmly as though greeting an old friend.

Call inhaled sharply when he heard his sister's name, and didn't breathe for several moments after. His cigarette fell to the floor as his mouth began to hang. "N...nighting..." he whispered, the corners of his mouth beginning to quiver. Tears began to well and fall beneath Call's glasses. He sniffed, choked, and put a hoof to his face, trying in vain to hold back the emotions.

"Sh-she still... she still looked after m-me... even after she..."

He put his other hoof to his face, and fought to get a grip. He coughed, and wiped his face dry. "What... What do I have?" He straightened his glasses and thought for a moment. He didn't have anything with...

"Callie?"

He didn't acknowledge the emotions - only waited for them to subside. It had been enough times walking through a scene like this that it no longer really fazed him at all when someone mourned. After the question, he nodded.

"There are not many changelings in Equestria - two, in fact. Herself and another. And they could not be more opposite. Where your friend failed Topaz and the Inquisition initiations both, this other would dominate them." Horizon stood up again, as though ready to leave. "And that is my warning to you. Left unattended, her path also leads to ruin - and not just for her." He settled his eyes on Call then looked over at the dead stallion again to see a waitress trying to wake him.

"That's my cue to depart."

Call grimaced as Horizon spoke. Another changeling? An evil one, by the sound of it. "But... who is she? S'she after Callie?" His words caused no reaction, as Horizon turned to the stallion in the corner, confirming Call's suspicion on that matter. Dead as a doornail.

Would that have been me after drink thirteen? Face down and gone in a shitty dive in Manehattan? I... I need to get a handle on my drinking.

Call looked back to Horizon, who had finished his parting words. "...thank you. I'll protect her." Call muttered, resting a hoof on the bar to steady himself. The booze seemed to be catching up with him a bit more now. He sighed deeply, and watched Horizon step towards the corner, and then vanish as soon as he was out of sight.

Call turned back towards the bar, and crossed his hooves. "Fuckin' hell..."

Despite furious protestations, Razma had parted again from Gimmicks and his friends. Though her wings pained something fierce, she had willow bark to chew on in her pack, and she had no intentions of leaving Call and Callie wondering where she might have gone, not when all three of them were in danger anyways. For that reason, it was more than a little upsetting to find that Call was not in their shared rented room, but rather had almost immediately set out to find the nearest seedy bar.

She walked in and, sure enough, there he was. Just about the only pony there, in fact, except for a waitress who seemed to be trying to rouse a sleeping patron...nope. A waitress freaking out at a patron who had apparently accomplished what Call set out to do.

"Why in blazes are you here? Now?" she hissed at him, wincing in pain as she reflexively tried to spread her wings and quickly regretting the action. "Of all the times to be drinking..."

Call turned to Razma as she entered, bandaged and bruised. It looked like her night had gone well too. "Because I'm a fucking alcoholic." he replied, emphasizing the last two words to the gryphon as she approached. He sighed, and turned to her. "The hell happened to you?"

He pushed himself off of the bar, and onto his slightly wobbly hooves, and started slowly trotting to the door. "Fine, 'm heading back."

He made his way out into the fresh night air, and gave a deep sigh. "Where's Callie?" he asked, looking around for a sign of the changeling. He hoped she was back at the room waiting...

As they made their way down the street, Call kept his glance affixed to the sidewalk for several moments before speaking. "I met Death in there. Not a metaphor... I mean I really met him." He realized this sounded like drunken rambling fucking nonsense, and that the slight slur didn't help matters. "He told me... that we need to protect Callie. 's another Changeling around somewhere... 'n it's evil." He re-set his glasses, which had slid from his head being tilted. "And we gotta protect her..."

Razma shook her head at Call's ramblings. Apparently he was so drunk he'd been hallucinating. Surely, he couldn't really met Death. Though she did feel sudden chill down her back...no. It was cold outside anyways. That was all.

"Yes, yes. I had planned to do exactly that anyways, Last Call. She needs someone she can trust, for once."
